SWCG Thoughts/Recommendations (San Antonio)

In an effort to try and get more locals involved, I modified your thread title a tiny bit. If worse comes to worse, you could ask a local installer like Keith Zars or Gary's Pools & Patio for a name. If all you need is help with the PVC itself, just about any plumber should be able to help as well. But let's see if the title change helps to get you some local replies.

You could probably do it as well or maybe wind up with an interesting PVC sculpture and have to call in the experts to finish the job.

PinchaPenny on Blanco installed the pump I purchased from them and did a great job with the PVC. You might get an estimate from them. I could have purchased the pump a little cheaper online but that puts the warranty in question and the installation turned out to be fairly complicated.

SWG is the only way to go with current chlorine prices!

Thanks much! I decided to give it a try and started cutting materials this evening. We shall see how things turn out. I appreciate the suggestion for Pinch A Penny.

Thanks! It was nice today. Unfortunately, I was stuck in the office most all of the day :/. Not much daylight left by the time I get home. I will likely have to wait until the weekend to start applying some cement to my PVC sculpture.

Good luck!

I recommend the slow-setting pvc glue. It will give you a few more milliseconds to adjust the fit before the pvc locks in place.

Also, be sure to slip the threaded collars on the pvc, facing in the correct direction, BEFORE you glue the fittings to the salt cell in place!

New question:

Based on reading here, I understand that most recommend leaving the pump on 24/7 at the lowest setting that will "trigger" a flow indication from the flow switch and then only adjust the % output of the chlorine generator as needed to maintain adequate chlorine levels. In my testing, that happens at 35%. As you can imagine, flow at only 35% yields just a slight trickle from my spa spillover (see photo). Is that of concern at all from a water balancing perspective or otherwise? I do currently have it scheduled to increase to 65% for about 4 hours in the afternoon - mainly for aesthetics - as that is about the minimum setting to get good flow over the spill over.

Enable Spa Spillover in your automation and run it two times a day for 20 minutes or so. Increase the RPM for Spa Spillover.
