My system has been running great for 10 years. I needed the pump to run for 24 hours to mix in a calcium leaching solution to remove CA from the tiles and tub of pool. I poked around on the Pentair Sun Touch controller (520873) and got the Intelliflo VS-3050 pump to run for 24 hours, but the problem started when I wanted to put it back to 8 hours per day and I failed miserably.
After several attempts with the menu setting, I decided to do the factory reset and reprogram method, which I still cannot get the pump to come on. The Saltwater Generator will turn on from the Sun Touch controller, but not the pump. I spent 3 hours on the phone with Pentair and their final answer was... the comm cable must be bad.
Yesterday I traced out the comm cable from the controller mother board connections to the pump mother board connections to rule out bad connection or bad plug. I tried resetting the Pump by pressing the on/off button till the LED started to blink and choosing #1 to assign the pump, the pressing the on/off button to program the pump as number one. Crossed my fingers and nuttin, still the controller will not communicate with the pump. I will not change the speed of the pump when the pump is running when I press the start button on the pump. I think this may have been the way I got the pump to run 24 hours to start with.
Now the pump is turned on by the breaker in the fuse panel to save steps late at night and early in the morning. I have a tech scheduled to come over next Saturday, but I fear he will be a parts changer and will want to start swapping out parts at $130/hr.
If you see any flaws to my troubleshooting or have suggestions, please let me know.
