Summer wave pump humming

I usually keep the pump running and it keeps the pool clean. I turned it off and now it just hums. What steps should I take? If I take motor out to check won’t water gush out.

Is it the little pump attached to the skimmer? If so there’s a large round disk that came with it to cover the bottom of the skimmer if the little pump is removed. Those things are like fish tank pumps- not very robust.
If u drain the water below the skimmer it can be removed/replaced. Most people remove them, plug the hole & get an intex pump & sand filter instead
