Suggestions for an Air Compressor

I will be closing my IG pool this week, and have decided to purchase a portable air compressor with a 1/4" adapter to attach to the threaded drain plug at the bottom of the skimmer basket. I previously used a shop vac, but it didn't have enough "grunt" to completely blow out the main drain.
Not sure how much "maximum" pressure or horsepower I need to clear out the skimmer, main drain and returns. I am looking at a "pancake" or "hot dog" compressor with a 3 gallon tank, 1/3 HP and a claimed 100 PSI max.
Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated.

That should be fine. You do not want to set the PSI to 100. Set it at 20 and work up if you are not having any success. I believe some people use the valve in where they close, open, push for air, and repeat the process.

If funds are not a problem, I would suggest the Cyclone. Outside of this a pancake compressor will be fine.
