Suction Leak

I have a suction side leak. I have shut everything off and when I remove the valve to replace the gaskets, I cannot stop the water from coming out of the opening. The only thing I can think is that it is coming from the spa since the level of the spa is higher than the valve on the side of the house and it’s being fed by gravity. Does anyone have any suggestions other than just trying to replace the gaskets as fast as I can attached is a picture.

I see you posted this question a few hours ago. Did you manage to stop water flow to get the vale corrected?
I wasn’t able to stop the flow. I believe it is the design of my pool that both the pool and spa are above the piping. All I could do is shut off the pool main drain and fix the spa valve quickly to minimize water flow. I guess going forward the only real way is to have another valve that I replace it with while I replace the O-Rings. That is unless you have another idea?IMG_7655.jpeg

Have you tried putting a stopper (try cling wrap to help seal the stopper so water doesn’t get by) into your skimmer(s) below the basket into the suction piping?

There is no way to do so as there isn’t a skimmer. As you can see in the picture the entire edge of the pool around all four sides acts as a skimmer since they have an infinity edge. If you have any other thoughts, please let me know as I am am sure I will need to do this again with other valves?

I don't recall, but is your catch basis equipped with a single (or few) ports (holes) or is it literally a trough of sorts along the entire bottom? It sounds like there's no simple way to plug the bottom right?

@JamesW. any thoughts?
The trough has 3 holes per side that can easily be blocked however the trough drains by gravity back to the collecting tank on the side of the house, so there is no way with the pump off the water comes from there. I was changing o-rings on the spa main drain valve so I was able to shut off the pool main drain but the only way around it would be to let it pour out until the water level is at the same level as the valve or do what I did and just work as fast as I can. I think in the future what I may do is just purchase an extra diverter valve and use the parts to stop it off, fix the other and then replace it. It is an expensive fix but so far everything about the infinity edge seems expensive! :ROFLMAO:
