Hi, folks. It looks like temperature sensors for Jandy Lite 2 LJ heaters are terribly scarce. Does anyone know if I can sub another sensor? An R045650 (doubtful)? Other? Maybe I can short the leads and bypass the sensor so I can “manually” heat the pool until (hopefully) the part becomes available again? Thanks for any help.

I’m giving this a try today. The old sensor seems to be fused in place. Maybe not quite that, but it isn’t coming out and I was hoping it wouldn’t end up in pieces. Not a great design. Any ideas, please let me know.

When I’m done, I’ll let everyone know how this went.

Sensor is in and reading about 10k resistance. Connected it to the board and still got FL 1. Cleaned connections on the board multiple times. No luck. Removed the board. No sign of damage. I will poke around some more, but I might have to buy a board. These things always happen just before a pool party!

Well… the heater has fired up. The F1 cleared after water started circulating.Maybe the F1 couldn‘t clear without circulation. Or maybe the problem is intermittent. Either way, I’m really glad it’s working.

Two sensors. New on top. Old on bottom. Insertion location is kinda visible under the old sensor.

Not real pretty, but no leaks.

Thanks for the help. TFP is the real deal. This where I learned to maintain my pool quite a few years ago.

Yeah that's not the correct temp sensor for that model heater but I guess if it works for you. That sensor is for the LXI/JXI models.
Yes. I couldn't find a legit replacement anywhere. Buying a new heater wasn't an option. I'm glad this sensor fit (kinda) and didn't leak. I don't know if it's going to be very accurate because a significant portion of the sensor won't be directly exposed to the water (unlike the other sensor, the body fills the entire port). I haven't had a chance to test the accuracy yet.

Likely, the actual sensor is the same. The new one is encased in a plastic sheath. The original metal one came with a vinyl sleeve that went over it and then into the port.
