So I’m at a bit of a loss on how to deal with this reoccurring issue. When I had my liner changed out two years ago all my water drained below the pool steps overnight the day we filled up the pool for the first time. The installer had to mess around with the gasket and added a bunch of silicone in the gap between the gasket and the pool steps. Every year algae loves to hide in this silicone. I can’t pull it out for fear of half my pool draining overnight. Today was my second time in the pool this season as my water temps hit 78 today. I checked the gasket and found just a bit of algae not much, barely any at all but enough to let me know it’s still in the pool. I think it somehow has somehow survived in areas of the silicone where it has come loose where I can’t see it. I slammed the pool last year a few times, and I think I get it all, but I can’t remove the silicone in the gasket. I have a salt water pool and currently my levels are FC 6, CC 0, PH7.6 CYA 60. My CYA was 40 when I took my cover off the pool and I have been bringing it up gradually. I have been running my chlorine a bit higher then the recommended levels this year. I’m not seeing any algae anywhere else and haven’t had a problem with algae since last year, I know it’s protected behind the silicone and I can’t get to it, to kill it.
