I've been working on cleaning up my 6k gallon above ground for a week. Following SLAM procedures and using the fantastic PoolMath app, it moved from nasty green to cloudy in about 3 days with 2 gallons of 12.5%. Since then it hasn't burned much chlorine but refuses to actually clear up. It's a very cloudy light green (seafoam). I would really appreciate if someone could review the logs and see if there's an obvious error I can correct.
I think the first problem is when I vacuum I can see the jet of water flowing into the pool change to dark green, as if the sand filter isn't doing it's job well enough. Is this an actual problem or is that normal? The pressure is good (4psi, I removed the passive solar heater) and the sand is clean (I backwash and rinse daily just to be sure), I even disassembled the whole thing to check the sand levels and added a little since it was a little low.
The hardest part is I am using test strips (I apologize!), since I thought I could get it close enough without buying the proper kit. I haven't brought a sample to the local pool store to confirm since I've read other posts saying not to bother, but maybe that's better than the dang test strips?
