Strange worm-like floaters

I have strange clear and black worm like things showing up in my pool. Some have a green color to them. I vaccuum and backwash my sand filter and an hour later I have a bunch back in my pool.

There is a tree overhanging but I do not see anything falling from it.

Any ideas what this is?

`~Looks like tree schmutz to me. Got trees? Has it been windy? Is your skimmer collecting them? A skimmer sock or toss-away hairnet in the skimmer basket will help keep them out of your filter.

Hey, welcome to TFP....good to see a newbie from Kansas here.....helps water down the Texas and Florida crowd. :laughblue:

OMG....eggs?? MORE CHLORINE, PLEASE!! :pukel:

That won’t really help. Most insect and amphibian eggs are relatively immune to chlorine unless it is brought up to unsafe levels for a swimmer. In fact, pool water is wonderful because it is so clean and well balanced unlike your local nasty mud hole full of turbid, green water that’s harboring who knows what in terms of parasites and such.

Oh I knowwwww. it was a gut reaction to varmint eggs!! Sort of like taking a gun or shovel to a snake before recognizing its a harmless snake. ewwww! Those darn gut reactions. In the pool world I think of Chlorine as the bullet for all icky problems.
