Good Morning. I was doing my daily tests and maintenance earlier this morning, and had a strange test experience. I was testing for FC. I put 10 mls of water in the vile. Water was clear as shown in the picture below. I added a scoop of R-0870 powder and mixed. The water had no color and was cloudy, as shown in the next picture. I thought I had done some thing wrong, so I started over and go the same results. That was about 7am.
I logged it as 0-FC and added chlorine to bring my FC up to a 7 (which would be the top of the ideal range for my CYA). At about 11, I tested and had 6.5FC and less than .5CC.
On a typical day, I will top up to about 7FC in the morning and see anywhere from 2-4ppm loss per day. To lose 7 ppm in one day is not normal, and I have never seen it go cloudy when I add reagent. Yesterday, I did add a lot of Calcium Choride to raise my CH from 250 to 400 yesterday. That was the only out of the norm task I did yesterday.

Clear - No Reagent

Cloudy - With R-0870
My question. Why did it go cloudy? And why might my FC have dropped so much in one day? Is that related to the CH change?
Thank you,
Harry
