Liquid Chlorine
I expected to use a lot of liquid chlorine for the first week or two of opening pool and purchased 2 5 gal carboys of 12 % liquid chlorine. But somehow magic happened, the stars aligned and my pool needed no more than a quick vacuum and running trichlor overnight for the stabilizer. By morning, I had 5 ppm running the chlorinator on full! At the moment, my chlorine demand is very low. I use the pucks until the CYA approaches 30 than switch to liquid. How long can I expect the chlorine in the carboys to retain potency?

Wow I didn't realize it degraded this fast.
I had 9 month old liquid chlorine I used during my opening and it gave me 2ppm per gallon versus normal 3ppm per gallon. Lost 1/3 of its strength. It was stored in my cool garage.

Cool. Our temps are high 60s reaching low 70s for several hours than into the 50s overnight. For now. Looks like I'll have useable chlorine potency for at least a month. It's stored underneath the shed porch overhang and a dense lilac so no heat buildup in the shed.

Thanks for that chart.
