Stop and start cleaner

A few months I had an issue where my pump psi was jumping up and down around 10 and when the suction cleaner was connected, was around 4 and basically hardly working. I had a pool company out who found a crack on the pump skimmer lid, we replaced it and all has been great since.
Forward 3 months, pump psi has been running at about 13 and working perfectly. I also had no issues with the suction cleaner when connected and working fine. Psi around 10-13

Not sure if this is a factor, but we had a lot of rain in Florida in the last week with a lot of dirt, mud in the pool. The suction cleaner has cleaned most of this up.
Yesterday, I noticed my suction cleaner was stoppinh and starting (psi is around 10 which should be strong enough and the suction seems strong at the skimmer). Logic would tell me the problem is with the cleaner (pump is running fine without cleaner attached). Yesterday I cleaned the filter cartridge (which was pretty dirty from all the dirt/mud from the last week). Made no difference. Now, I have 2 suction cleaner, both made no difference. I also have 2 sets of hoses, one that has 10 hoses connected together and another one solid long one, tried both, same story, starts working for a few seconds and then stops? The only thing left is the diaphragm of both cleaners are gone, which seems highly likely but possible, I have checked them they look fine but have not yet replaced them.
I’m pretty lost, any ideas?
Looking online, they talking about a clogged impeller? But if that was the case, would that not impact the pump pressure as well without the cleaner attached?
Thank you
Gary

I use a regular cartridge for my Hayward pump but just turned the valves (which would drain water out of my spa into my pool) and I noticed a big clunk if brown stuff (never seen that before?)appearing in the glass of the pump skimmer) and then disappeared a few seconds later. Not sure what this means but maybe this cleaned some blockage. I will clean the filter cartridge again and see if this makes any diff?

resolved!!
Hard to believe, but both diaphragms in the 2 cleaners were damaged. They both were working fine a few days ago?
Hard to understand - The only theory is with the heavy rains we have recently had and the debris it came with it, they both must of got damaged when it cleaned up after the rains. The one diaphragm has a noticeable tear, the other diaphragm was almost impossible to notice and it was tiny. Guess, any tear, big or small, will cause a problem and these plastic diaphragms are very fragile. Oh well!
