A few months I had an issue where my pump psi was jumping up and down around 10 and when the suction cleaner was connected, was around 4 and basically hardly working. I had a pool company out who found a crack on the pump skimmer lid, we replaced it and all has been great since.
Forward 3 months, pump psi has been running at about 13 and working perfectly. I also had no issues with the suction cleaner when connected and working fine. Psi around 10-13
Not sure if this is a factor, but we had a lot of rain in Florida in the last week with a lot of dirt, mud in the pool. The suction cleaner has cleaned most of this up.
Yesterday, I noticed my suction cleaner was stoppinh and starting (psi is around 10 which should be strong enough and the suction seems strong at the skimmer). Logic would tell me the problem is with the cleaner (pump is running fine without cleaner attached). Yesterday I cleaned the filter cartridge (which was pretty dirty from all the dirt/mud from the last week). Made no difference. Now, I have 2 suction cleaner, both made no difference. I also have 2 sets of hoses, one that has 10 hoses connected together and another one solid long one, tried both, same story, starts working for a few seconds and then stops? The only thing left is the diaphragm of both cleaners are gone, which seems highly likely but possible, I have checked them they look fine but have not yet replaced them.
I’m pretty lost, any ideas?
Looking online, they talking about a clogged impeller? But if that was the case, would that not impact the pump pressure as well without the cleaner attached?
Thank you
Gary
