Hello all, I am following TFP for my second season and love it. I was in the pool today and my eyes where stinging, so I ran and tested my ph. Perfect 7.6. I asked the others that where in the pool about there eyes and they all said they didn't feel it. Is it me? Or the pool and I'm just more sensitive to it. What else besides for ph can cause stinging eyes? I try to keep my FC a little high because my pool gets a lot of action.

FC 8 ( usually keep it at 10)
Ph 7.6
TA 110 ( little high but ph stays so I leave it)
Cya 50
Ch 140

What is your CC level?

Many times stinging sore eyes can be the result of rubbing your eyes dry as you come up out of the water. Many people do it without even realizing it.

If your CYA is 50, your minimum is 4. If you allow your levels to drop to around 5 each day, before additions, everything will be fine. No need to keep the levels that high. Each day, add enough based on activity. You will only know by testing your water.

I know that if there is heavy activity, I will lose an additional 4 ppm (on average) than normal. If I add 2 per day, then 6 needs to be added to my minimum for heavy activity.

So, if the levels you are showing are after additions, then everything is fine. If before you add the extra bleach for activity, then a little high. Please advise!

I would also suspect CCs. With CYA at 80 and FC typically at 12 when we have lots of folks over everyone always comments how he water doesn't bother their eyes. PH is usually 7.5 to 7.8 when folks are here.
