Steel spring cover fasteners vs. rubber bungee cords

She didn't say why she thought that the original cover used rubber straps
On the above website, the straps look longer, with the bungee stretching more than a traditional strap.

So they probably noticed the further offset.

The rubber Bungee straps are usually spaced closer together.

Can you show the whole pool?

Contact Anchor and see what they say.

If it was an Anchor Industries cover, they might have your address on file if the old owners registered for the warranty.

You might be able to go to a spring cover.

The main issue with the rubber straps is that you have very little room to adjust the length, so you have to get the installation exactly correct.

Poolcoversdirect has multiple cover manufactureres. They gave me a quote for a looploc replacement cover for mine. Just havent been able to swallow the quote for it yet…😬

Maybe that's why they think it needs rubber straps. Huh.

Can you show the whole pool?

Sure. I'll go get a picture. Actually. I have one.

Contact Anchor and see what they say.

Anchor told me to talk to a dealer.

Let's hope.

This, and perceived durability is why I want the spring cover. Poolcoversdirect isn't addressing the issue.

Based on the spacing, it might be an Anchor cover with rubber straps.

I would be fine with the Anchor cover and rubber straps.

The durability will match other covers.

You can send the measurements to other cover manufacturers to see what they can do.

Get the springs. Mine are almost 30 years old and are still fine. I doubt the rubber bungees would last that long.
The rubber straps hold up well and they can be replaced if necessary.

They will probably last as long as the cover.

The concern about strength and durability is a legitimate concern, but I have seen this type of cover and I would be comfortable installing it on any pool.

Also, the spacing is very different and a spring cover will probably not fit the existing anchors.

You might need to redo most or all of the anchors with a spring cover.

You can send the measurements off to all of the top manufacturers to get an estimate.

You can install all new anchors if you want.

Send off the measurements to the listed companies and ask for a quote.

The manufacturers will refer you through a local authorized dealer.

In my opinion, the bungee strap cover is probably the best choice rather than redoing all anchors.
