Chlorine tabs work on the organic (living) stuff. Based on your history of tests (CH of 140) I wouldn't think it would be scale. So it had a rough texture huh? Did it require a strong, aggressive scrubbing to remove, or was it somewhat easy once you hit it?

No...not hard aggressive. I think it was more just something to scrub it off, but brush does'nt work. They seem to be slowly disappearing as time goes on.
