So first season ever opening my pool, and its a green MESS! It usually have a SWG, but I broke it (b/c im a curious fool), so for now, will run it on chlorine. But before that, I need to SLAM.

I have been prepping the pool for 2 days now because these were my pre SLAM test results (using the K2006)

FC 0
PH 8+ (it was REALLY purple, probably closer to 9)
TA 80
CYA 30

I slowly got the PH back down to 7.2 range, the rest of the numbers are the same. Today was the first day I added liquid chlorine (10%) and threw in 10L to start. Got the FC up to 12.

Does anyone know why I keep getting a white film on the top of the pool? Almost like a light foam?

This is what it now looks like now, and I will update as I progress

where did you get your liquid chlorine? the 10% makes me think this is the stuff walmart sells in the summer. i'm excited to watch your journey here. its always amazing watching a swamp turn into a beatiful pool

Ahhh that's exactly what I have. It seems to have subsided now .

Scuzzy foam sometimes happens when SLAMming. Check out these pictures: A little encouragement for those with algae and new to BBB

I'm using 10.8% actual chlorine. Seems that the foam is slowly going away

Not sure what post you are referring to here, but if it's the splash less kind then you don't want to use that. You need regular concentrated bleach.

Sorry, I meant the pictures the other gentleman posted above. About the other people with foam, that was the exact foam I had. It is gone now.

As for the bleach, I am using pure 10% pool chlorine.

So far the slam is going to plan, will update pic before sun set to show the progress.

How you you rake out leaves if you cannot see the bottom? I raked most, but there still could be a few there, is it okay to wait to see them?

All you can do is just kinda guess and work in an area till you dont get anything them move to the next area.

Watch for any that get stirred up when you brush and grab 'em if you can. If you've made a couple passes with the leaf rake across the bottom and the bag is empty, then you might as well wait until you see them. If the bag keeps coming up with leaves, keep going. Chlorine doesn't differentiate between organics; it will attack a dead leaf as readily as some live algae. You want it to concentrate on the alge.

Where's the update pictures?

Here are some updated pics! This is after starting the SLAM last night at 9pm and it is currently 2pm ( so about 17 hours)

Realllllly happy with the progress! I am brushing every few hours

ALL the green was gone by the morning. Now its just cloudy, still cannot see the bottom.

Keep taking shots like this one I stole from you. You'll be able to measure progress by looking at the stairs.
