Our newly installed 27’ round, 54” height above ground pool is just finishing filling up now. I just wanted to make sure I am on track with my plan to start adding chemicals and that I am using the pool math app correctly to determine appropriate amounts.
From what I’ve read on TFP I need to add my CYA (stabilizer) first using the sock method. According to the Pool Math app, with 0 CYA, I should be putting in about 7 lb. 4 oz of stabilizer. Does this sound correct? I plan to add this slowly and then after the last dose of stabilizer, wait at least 10 minutes, and then I plan to start adding my chlorine to get it to 2 ppm. According to the pool math app, with chlorine being 0, it’s showing to add about 49 oz. Chlorine. From there, I plan to use my Taylor k-2006 test to check ph and alkalinity and adjust as needed. Thank you for any input, would love to make sure I’m starting things off correctly!

That will raise your CYA to about 40 ppm. That is fine. You might find it easier to put in 2-3 lb batches. Just add chlorine right away when the pool is filled and raise to target level for the 40 CYA when you get the last bit of stabilizer soaking.
