Stains appeared just today??

any idea why this could be happening now? it's the 3rd year owning this pool (which is much older than that) and stuff falls in this part of the pool a lot in May and Sept/Oct. it's getting lighter now in June and will stop soon but it's so strange that it's never happened before.

it's an oak tree.

so, this morning, no stains! great, however, I don't know how to use chlorine! So I dumped in approx 100 oz of bleach yesterday per pool math to get to 10. I'm at 10 this morning. Do I need to add anything now? or just keep my SWG going to hold it at 10?

If you cannot brush it away easily, a stainless steel brush will probably remove it and then a normal level of chlorine will clean up anything you missed. You could increase your chlorine level temporarily if you wish but I don't see the need.
Repeating, I would leave your chlorine alone. Keep it at maintenance levels and the stains will likely disappear.

pH is close enough with 10 FC......it's a gradual thing and starts to get erroneous around 10 ppm FC and getting worse and worse as FC ppm increases.

Again, you are fine at 10 ppm.

right but i wasn't fine at 6, which is my target FC level for my CYA.

A day or so ago, instead of repeatedly playing hockey down under with a puck against those organic stains, I recommended increasing the FC level for a few days slightly above the target range to see if it would help resolve the staining issue. It seems to be helping. Once the stains are gone and/or those oak dropping cease, then I think the OP should be able to let the FC fall back to the normal target range. The FC of 10 was only a temp-measure for the staining.

well that's the next question, how long should I leave it at 10? My mom probably won't be testing while I'm gone and I leave Saturday for 5 days. I'll make sure pH is lowered before I leave but the FC won't stay at 10 likely so we will see when I get home, if there are stains.
