Nice work! Our pool builder took a sprinkler station and used it for a fill line built into the pool just above the water line. Your setup accomplishes the same thing. One of these days I’ll replace my sprinkler controller so that I have remote access like you do. 
Now that I have my chiller running and temps are 100°+ every day, I have my pool fill station coming on 2x per week due to the rapid evaporation.

I have the same setup, except the supply pipe was built into the pool during construction (looks like a return). I have a Rachio 3 and I love the convenience and control.
