Sprinkler adjustments after pool build

The aftermath of a pool installation to a sprinkler system can be daunting, so I hired someone to fix it for me. That said, I have a question now about some changes I want to make, and I'm hoping someone here at TFP will have some expertise or be able to point me in the right direction.

I am installing a new small planter, and I want to run a small drip line to it. However, I can't tap into anything except existing spray zones.

I know my builder put a small drip head (not sure what to call it, but it's about 3/4" and you can twist it to adjust the flow rate) to a tree from an existing spray zone. That makes me think this is possible and reasonable. However, a lot of what I read online says not to put a drip line on the same zone as other spray heads. As long as I get the right flow rate, is there really any reason I shouldn't do this?

Any advice on what to get/what to do?

I have a lot of drip heads coming off of a spay pipe. I have not had any issues because you can adjust the flow at that little drip head. I just run either 3/8 or 1/4 black flexible line (common at HD and Lowes) along with different types of drip heads. Some just do a drip and others spray a fine mist but limited to about 4-6 inches so specific to a bush or flower.

1/2 my 16 zones were permanent toast after my pool installation (knew that going in). I do seem to remember that "they" say not to mix heads on zones. But - whatever - try it and see I can't imagine it is too hard to get it working. All it means if it doesn't is unbalanced flow between the heads but they should all still work.

As much as gardens change (I know mine has) over the years and need to get water to certain plants. I adjust my time of each zone to ensure it matches to the needs of those plants plus run drip systems to new plants for a while until they take hold or if we install a planter box (like we did recently) and I had to get a small line to that from an existing head. Probably someone smarter than me can look at flow dynamics of a sprinkler system but I have never had an issue with mixing the type of heads on a zone. Maybe something I do more research on. Good Luck.
