I have enjoyed this forum. I feel like a real beginner although I have had my pool for 15+ years. I do all of the work on it and I managed a whole lot of screw ups. I think my black liner turned gray due to too much shock. Endless mishaps. I have gotten better at testing and followed your group advice on the kit purchase but it often does confounds me and I find I go back to the strips. Not knowing where to place this thread/post I feel like a dumb bass fumbler needs to understand that "I'm just getting started " and I have a lot to learn from you all.

SO I will address only issue one-
My liner was pulling away in many spots and although we had a few years left in it ( I think)but the wife beat me until hired someone to fix it. NOT an easy task out here where all the rich folks moved in to make my life miserable. It was deemed beyond fixing so we had to put in a new one. Again not easy to find anyone, because I don't have any sort of contract with anyone since I am a DIY -er. $$$$ ouch. Amazing.
Two years later (last summer) the liner pulled away in a few spots again. So for $300 they came and fixed it. IS this going to happen over and over again? I have a heat gun so what else do I need to buy? and where do I buy it to do it myself? Can I do this myself? Looked easy. Is there something I can do to keep my liner healthy and happy? Am I letting the water get to low and the sun dries it out???
Later DIY posts will be:
- the waterfall I think I always wanted.
-Going over to salt- The good bad

Welcome BACK bor !!!

You want liner lock. It's a soft wedge that keeps the liner bead tight to the hook in the liner track. It's about $25 for 100ft on amazon and takes minutes to wrap the whole pool. Then it doesn't matter where it wants to get a bit loose a couple seasons from now. Check the bottom of these threads for a visual, particularly the second one with an upclose zoom of the two halves of the 'zipper'

If the liner lock doesn't push in by hand, grab a scrap block of 2x4 and hit that with a rubber mallot. (For when you miss because it's akward, and let's be honest as old friends :ROFLMAO:)

*edit. Found 120ft for $20 from Beezos. Woohoo
the waterfall I think I always wanted.
Waterfalls make me have to pee. Again, let's be honest because we're all getting older.

SWGs are the bees knees. The budget doesn't always allow the pre purchasing of years of FC, but that's the only drawback. The rest is GRAVY.

Heat guns for the average Joe is the biggest no no. Too easy to make one slip and your liner is trashed beyond. Go to Walmart and buy yourself 3 electric kettles to have that much hot water simultaneously as you pour ,stretch and then tuck the liner into the bead. You keep moving till whatever section you're on is all in. Then get the bead lock in and call it done. A short block of 2x3 and a soft blow hammer will be perfect.

I did not see pics? It most likely is my badd techy skills? But I should do all this before the problem comes back? Can I do it in sections? As in 20 feet at a time? AND THANKS!

Touche' :laughblue:

SWG- what is FC?
The Free Chlorine that the SWG produces. You pay for it all upfront with the unit/install costs instead of buying it a gallon at a time. When sized at 2x the volume of the pool, most produce about 1000 gallons worth of FC and not lugging those jugs is beyond priceless. But that doesn't make the funds available to switch.
I did not see pics?
Click on the 2 wiki links I posted and there's further explanation with pics.
But I should do all this before the problem comes back?
Yes. Once the liner lock is in place, it can't pull out.

You can but it literally takes minutes, like 10, to do the whole pool. You already should have 6 inches or so each way in the corners so just do one wall at a time. You shouldn't need to take a break because it'll take longer walking back and forth to come back next time.

My pool is black will this white loop lock show when installed?
Yes but it does kinda blend into the coping the same way the top half of your liner track already does. It'll probably look like a trim strip that belongs.

They make it in colors too

Here's mine. Zoom in on the far wall. Most of it is out of view if you're not swimming.
