Spillover Spa losing water

We just bought a new home over the winter, so I'm a first time pool owner. We opened and filled the pool/spa about 2 weeks ago. The water levels were fine for the first week. But the past 6 mornings, I wake up and the spillover spa is down about 6-8 inches of water overnight. The pump does not run over night. Any advice on what to check would be appreciated!

If you have three-way valves between the spa and the pool, you can get a siphon going and the spa will drop until it reaches the same level as the pool. If the spa is elevated above the pool, you should have some check valves in the plumbing to stop that. A lot of them can be rebuilt.

Do you see anything in your plumbing that resembles one of these?

There was no check valve I could see. The water in the spa drops well below the water in the pool. Could that still be the issue?

I had this same issue years ago. It was a check valve, and oddly enough I *seem to recall* the check valve was underground - but right at the surface. When we replaced, we put he new one above ground. I'm fairly sure I remember this correctly, but not 100%.
