Speed Stir

Hi Guys, got my test kit today. Unfortunately, I can't get the speed stir to work. Tried a different set of batteries too. Is there a trick or something I need to know other then inserting batteries the right way and hitting the on button?

You need the stirbar.

The speedstir is just a magnetic field. you need the magnet inside the vial to get the water to swirl.

Did a small light come on when you hit the light button?

Not to sound crazy but you did have the magnetic stirrer in the measuring vial right?

And if the light on the on button lights up, the batteries are good.

It doesn't do anything until you put the pellet in the vial & place the vial on the speedstir. Well actually the light should come on if you press that button.

Did your SpeedStir come with a stirbar? It's the white pill looking thing, it should have come with one. If you press the light bulb button on the SpeedStir do the lights come on?

the light does not light up - tried the batteries it comes with and a different set. Should the light come up without the magnetic stirrer and no water in the tube or only if water and magnetic stirrer is in?

Figured it out - the red wire that connects to the battery (see picture) was not connected - quick solder gun to the point and bam!

Very nice catch and handy DIY skills in a pinch. Still, if the speedstir should give you any problems, or you have any concerns about it's reliability, the TFTestkits POC will be happy to speak to you about that item. Your 100% satisfaction is most important.

Thanks everybody! It seems to be working good now. What a nifty tool - holding the tube in hand and shaking it without spilling while adding drops and counting is quite the finnicky task. Glad I got the speed stir. Just tested the pool water. Few rounds just to make sure I did it right. Will post results in a different thread.
