Hello this is will be a long post - but I want to explain this.
WHAT DO I HAVE:
I got a hot tub for free in December. It needed a pump. It is a Leisure Bay Celebrity Santos spa. It has a brand new Aqua Flo Flomaster XP2 pump. It has a brand new Balboa VS M7 heater assembly - I got the whole unit, not the heater element only. It is set up to run on 120V. I had a licensed electrician run a new dedicated circuit for it. I cleaned the filter with a powerwasher and that is clear according to the spa store.
After all of the work I got it running and it worked great. When I plug it in, it does the self-check and prime routine. At first it would run fine after it finished the self-check. I read the manual, and it says it is supposed to turn off on it's own after 30 minutes. It doesn't - it just ran & ran for 2 days at first. Then I figured out that I could turn it off with the spiral-snowflake-looking button, and after a few hours it would restart at a lower speed and do a cycle. It did that for about a week. Then we had a cold snap in FL so I changed the cycle to EC (economy mode) and changed the time to F2 for filter 2 times in a 12 hour cycle. It started to warm up again, so I put it back to ST standard mode and a cycle of F6, 6 times in 12 hours.
Now, it will run but then after I turn it off with the button, it will try to restart and then it will run for a few minutes, shut off and say DR, restart and shut off - etc. It does that 3 times. After the 3rd shut off it says DY and stays off.
Last night I checked it all out after reading it could have air trapped inside. It shouldn't, because I don't let the water get that low - but I refilled the tub with more water anyway with the hose jammed into the skimmer filter & tried it again. After the 1st shutdown I restarted it and then I took out the filter part from the skimmer, and I used a small toilet pluger to push water through... I made sure I did NOT have air inside the plunger. I did hear a sound like air pushed through, or it could have been a higher flow of water - I did not see amy bubbles and I did not have the air jets on, only the regular ones. After that it ran fine, and started to heat the water from 72 degrees up to 90 in about 3 hours. Just before bed I shut it off. This morning I checked and it said DY again.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thank you for your help and your time.
