Hi .. I saw this thread was not replied to. Was there a resolution ? I have a similar issue with jet placement that is much more obvious. in my situation, some of the spa jets cemented in at the seat level; see picture. The PB is willing to work on a resolution. One possible resolution is to cut out the wall and install a vertically stacked spa jet that would place the top jet 7-12' above the seat? Does anyone have positive or not so positive experience with improving jet placement after shotcrete ? Thanks for your help!

Sorry, I haven’t had to relocate jets after shotcrete but when I asked my PB about vertically stacked jets, they said there would be pressure issues. My PB is definitely not God, so I don’t believe everything they say, but that’s what I was told.
Honestly, it’s their screw up. Let them figure it out. Just make sure their resolution is one you will be happy with. Good luck!

For a strong flow out of a jet you need 10-15 gpm of water flow. If you stack jets you double the flow rate you need.

Does your pump and plumbing have the capacity to deliver the gpm flow rate for the number of jets you will have and give you satisfactory pressure?
 
Many thanks for your replies. It helps. I have attached pics what the PB has decided as the solution.

You can see that the wall has been chiseled around the rebar eventually to expose the plumbing. With the intent to keep the jet body in line with the jet, the plumbing will take a 90 degree turn up 7-10 inches, and then a 90 degree turn down down to the original position. Leaving the Jets will be at a 7-10 inch level above the seat. The wall removal seen on 4 jets took about 5 hours of constant chipping with 3 contractors rotating every 20 minutes. The PB has said the holes will be reshot with additional rebar support. I will be having a discussion with the PB on the impact to the flow. I also have four other jets; two at 4-5 inches above the seat and two at the ankle / foot level near the bottom of the spa.

The spa jet call out is for 8 waterway polystorm minijets. The quote also shows a 2 HP dedicated spa pump with a 1 HP silencer blower. The main pump is 3 HP. Suction is 2.5 inches, returns are 2 inches for water and 1.5 inches for air.

It will be an interesting flow experiment to see how the combined air and water flow mix will work across two 90 bends. The jets are designed for the air and water to be combined right before it comes out of the nozzle. You can see the air and water loops behind the jet.

If the air line and water line are separately moved higher and then reconnected to a new higher venturi tee, that is fine.

However, if the PB plans to move just the jet outlet, that will not work very well. The water coming out of the jet is very collimated which makes the jet strong. Running that stream through two bends will diffuse the stream considerably making the jet much weaker. Plus it will probably affect the air mixture as well. Too much back pressure on the jet exit and water can be forced back out the air line.
 
My understanding (I won’t assume, but will check) is that the jet body where the water and air combine) will individually make the 90 degree turn and come together right before the jet … I think there is an old thread that showed a similar issue posted by leepofaith (I think) that had a similar problem (bidet jets they were called) and solution. It appears the individual 90 degree bends with the jet body being moved to be in line with the jets resolved their issue …. Thanks again
 
Morning. An update on the spa jet move. Unfortunately, the progress is very slow for a number of reasons. Below is a picture of 2 of the jets that have been raised. The jet on the left is in progress and the raising of the jet on the right is complete. The jets were at seat level and now have been raised by adding a 90 degree bend to the water and air lines to maintain the water and air mixing body in line with the jet. When complete, the six jets will be at 2-6", 2-8" 1-10" and 1-12" above the seat. We will be sensitive to the flow rate/gpm out of each jet since we have added many 90 degree turns to raise the jets. Air and water line were moved separately and then recombined … pressure testing today … and then the patching of the spa jet holes will occur next week … one other comment. I know there has been a timeline headwind for various reasons, but we are in week number 24 of our pool build … with at least 6 more weeks to go. How does a 30 week spa/pool build timeline sound to y’all. We were told 16-18 weeks at the start … thanks for your replies .

Thanks for some vote of confidence … the concrete patch is seen below … now heres hoping the concrete patch does not cause problems with plaster cracking in the future. Time will tell … it will also be interesting to see if the flow impacts jet performance … unfortunately I will have nothing to compare it too so we will see when we get water in .. Thanks again for the insights …
