Spa attached to pool is leaking water, not into pool.

I believe my spa is losing water when the pump shuts off, but the water is not going into pool. If I isolate the hot tub the pool loses no water. When the hot tub loses water it only goes down enough to be even with pool water. I’ve installed plugs in all holes in hot tub and still loses water. Very confusing. Replaced check valve on return line to hot tub, still leaking. Can anyone give me ideas here?
Thanks in advance.

If the pool and spa are on the same level (spa not raised), that is normal operation. The levels will equalize with the pump off.
With the pump on the spa, if configured as most are, will get some filtered water pushed into it to keep the water "fresh," the level will rise and overflow into the pool.

I’ll get a pic tomorrow. Haven’t really looked at valves, just know water is disappearing.
Pay close attention the the pool water level with the system running and then after the spa drains down. You may find that the pool level has gone up a bit. Depending on the size of the pool and spa it may not move much. If you're not having to add water to the pool more than usual the water is most likely draining back to the pool through a leaking valve.

i’m having same issue- my spa does not completely down drain each night , it loses around an inch per night. replaced check valve. i think i have a slow leak in spa return lines and or spa jet return lines. i’m going to try fix-a-leak since i don’t want to spend the money to tear up my spa to get to plumbing.
