CYA: 55ppm - 60% drop

Always round up, so 60. Totally reasonable to manage. Many in TX have a 50 or 60 on purpose due to the insane UV.

Dose so that you can lose your recent daily FC loss, plus a little wiggle room, and remain free and clear above minimum at your lowest point. Basically make 'low target' your minimum.

I'm starting to investigate SCG/SWG/SWCG (Sorry, seen it listed so many ways). But that will be a new thread if/when I have questions.

Exactly. If you miss a little and only dose to 8, you're still in range tomorrow with 5.

Once you are one with your pool and know how it behaves, you can dance the minimum line as close as you wish. But once you see how well giving yourself some safety net works, you probably won't change a thing.

Completed the OCLT. 8.5ppm @ 9pm (dark outside) and 8.5ppm at 6am (dawn). Zero overnight loss.
Can I really expect a zero loss over night?

If there is nothing to consume the chlorine, yes.

Theres is a slight amount of error in the testing, especially with a 10 ml test.

RLP, Thanks for the quick reply. Ya...I'm assuming +/- 0.5ppm with the 10ml test. Both the PM and AM tests followed the same progression from red to pink to almost clear to clear. So even if the value is off, I'm feeling confident that I don't have a algea problem. Just wanted to make sure my test results made sense.

Already tired of dumping liquid chlorine in the pool every night, and we take extended vacations multiple time thoughout the year. Asking neighbors to take daily care of the pool for two to thee weeks at a time is pushing it. So...after much research, I ordered the Hayward Aquarite with a T-15 cell, along with the parts necessary to wire and control it with a current sensor. This is the easy part. Electrical and Electronics are my forte. Basic chemistry I understand, but please don't ask me to balance equations. Pool pumping is simple, but I hate crawling under the kitchen sink.
