Solar Cover Clips advice

Hello All ,
Once again I seek the wisdom of Y'all...

So we have a pretty large in ground pool, kidney shaped in the woods a bit so it needs the solar cover. We typically attach the clips about 25 % ( at the pools widest ) into the pool, so when reeling it draws in on both sides and gives a good amount of room to roll up considering the shape. I see videos showing attaching at the end , but putting all that stress on one end or another which would rip the clips out of the material, especially after a rain. But I cannot get them to stay fastened ( probably due to the fold in material where clipped ) This method worked for years , but new clips I buy failed , all of them after 2 hours of painstaking installation.

The length is long , ~45 feet. Pulling from one end is hard , made worse by the kidney shape. Searching for something more beefy , but not much luck. Ready to send it to the shredder . Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Past few days we can't swim as there's no way to get the cover off :-(

Post a few pictures of what you have - especially the clips and their attachment point to the solar cover.

My solar cover gets rolled onto my reel about 10' from one end. I trimmed the solar cover about 4" longer to allow attachment of the clips at that point. It has worked well thru several covers so far.
