So I think I have algae.....

So I finally failed the OCLT. Night reading 8.5. Morning reading 6.5. CC are still 0 and the water looks great. I am just starting to see a few spots on the floor here and there. Hoping the SLAM will be fast because the algae doesn't seem to be effecting the water much. How do I tell if it is the yellow vs. green? Does it matter? When I pulled up the sample it looked yellowish green in the tube. Going to add some muriatic acid to get the PH down before I start the SLAM.

Question - What do I do with the pool equipment? I know I need to make sure all bathing suits and such are washed well. What about the vacuum hose and such and pool toys? How do I disinfect them or do I need to?

Mustard algae grows on the sides and floor in shady areas and will have a yellowish tint. Every other type of algae will leave a green mark if you smear it on white paper. You do not need to run an OCLT again until you have .5 or less CC. Check behind your pool ladder, the nooks and crannies are a favorite place for algae to hide.

Dose the pool, then brush and check again in 2 hours. Pull out the ladder if you can and scrub it down. If you have any toys that live in the pool full time check them for algae as well. If you suspect Mustard algae in your pool, once you have passed all 3 slam criteria bring the pool to Mustard algae level for 24 hours, and brush the pool. Soak all the toys and pool equipment in Mustard level water for 1 hour and let dry. After 24 hours at Mustard level allow the FC to drop to normal level.

My CC has been 0 and the water has been clear. I will start the SLAM tomorrow morning. I have nothing on the walls only horizontal surfaces. Nothing behind the ladder which is the only shaddy spot in the pool. We get full sun all day. Thanks for the info!
