Smart/Electronic Lock for Fence Gate

I'm having a new pool installed this coming spring. One of the requirements for the fence permit is that I have a self-closing/locking gate for my fence (which will be the existing fence around my yard and not the pool directly), AND that there is no quick release from the outside of the fence. I already have spring hinges for the self-close, but will need to replace the locking mechanism to eliminate my outside quick release.

I have the permit approved waiting for the build, but I'm trying to find a solution for gaining access to my backyard without a "quick release" on the outside of the gate. My gate is 6 ft tall, so my kids/wife are too short to try and use one of those standard pool gate latches that are attached to the inside of the gate and you pull upward to release.

Does anyone have any suggestions on smart/electronic locks that will require a code/fingerprint to release the lock from the outside for the gate? We do a lot in our backyard, and going in/out will be a real pain if I can't open the gate from the outside in some fashion.

I would reach out to local fence contractors and ask them what they typically use for this. I would expect they SHOULD be familiar with the appropriate latches to meet the local codes.

I had to install self locking latches as well. The Magna Latch is the choice most use and conforms to pool codes. It usually a distance it must be from the ground to the top of the release mechanism. The codes require a minimum distance and the installation on the fence to meet this height requirement is usually all that is needed. I actually installed the latches myself, it was a piece of cake. virtually every hotel with an outdoor pool uses these latches as they are time tested without failure. I would read your pool code which should outline the requirement. I see you are Canada so they may have some strange requirement but in the states virtually all states use codes that are similar and address this issue by height from the ground. BTW, the latch contains adjustment for vertical and horizontal adjustment that allow for pinpoint installation.

If the above is the relevant Canadian Code the release mechanism (in my example of the Magna Latch ,the top pull) must be at least 54" from the ground and you can have it on the outside of the fence (i.e. non pool side). You wouldn't need any fancy electronic locking mechanism. The magna latch is the way to go in my opinion. You have the option of locking it also with a key so nobody can get in without jumping your fence.

A fingerprint lock is a perfect choice for your entire family. Most fingerprint locks are secure, safe, strong, and reliable. Usual keys can be stolen or copied, but fingerprints are unique. The worst part about fingerprint locks is having a complicated installation process. A few people riddle out how to install fingerprint locks all by themselves. At this point come to the rescue locksmith specialists who know how to sort all things out. My rescue were the nearby locksmiths se20 workers who responded fast to my demands and problems.

I put this on my wooden fence gate...a bit of "engineering" to get it mounted but it gave me piece of mind. They (Lockey USA) have a bunch of products and you will find something that should suit your needs.
