Small leak i cannot find?

thanks!, now just because I am a "need to understand the whys and hows" kind of person, why do you say this works better than food coloring?
It is in a syringe type container, which is easier to use underwater than a squeezy bottle of food coloring

It is also thicker, so it disperses less in the water.

This is what I've used.

Update - I found one leak, and patched it twice actually (first time it was still seeping a bit at one edge) using the kit and dye recommended here. Problem is, it is still leaking somewhere although at a slower rate, but enough that I am am having to lower my skimmer basket every couple of days. The ground is drier too, but still losing water somewhere.. I have gone around with the dye to look for other leaks in suspicious areas and no luck. I am now over it and considering a new liner. Mine is bleached practically white anyway and there are other places on the bottom I suspect will become issues sooner than later. I am going to put the liner pad down first for extra protection, but I am absolutely terrified of cutting the intake and outlet holes!! I have been reading old posts on the forum about this and have gotten some good advice from them, but does anyone have pics or vids of EXACTLY how to do it? Like how do I even get the pieces out of the old pool and how will the water not seep around it?

thanks in advance..

To take the skimmer off, you just take all of the screws out of the faceplate. That is all that is holding it on.

To take your return off, remove the backing nut on the outside and push it into the pool.

This video is how I installed mine - sort of

I used what they call the wall saver (or butterfly) gasket.

I did it a little differently. I first mounted my skimmer and faceplate temporally
Then I cut the liner, leaving about two inches of material all around the opening
I cut the corners on a 45
I then removed the skimmer and faceplate.
I folded the two inch flaps of liner that I made over the opening and taped them down at the edges outside the pool
I then installed the butterfly gasket
Then lined up the skimmer and faceplate with the opening and installed the screws.
I then trimmed any excess liner from around the outside of the skimmer (on the outside of the pool)

Basically, they cut the liner flush with the skimmer opening. I left enough material that I could fold it over the edges of the opening.

I really don't know if it makes it better, but in my mind it can't hurt, and it is an extra layer of protection.

I have an intex.. there is no faceplate or nuts etc... its just a hole in the vinyl lined with some plastic

Since it’s an intex you will just remove what is there & replace it. The same holes should be in the new replacement liner unless you are planning to use an overlap liner on top of your current intex one.
Show us pics of what you have from the inside & outside of the pool.

ok. I may try one last attempt at patching a few suspicious places and wait on the liner until spring. Im sure you guys know this has not been a good "pool" year for me LOL!!

Anyone got any tips or tricks on finding a small leak in an Intex pool? I don’t see that there’s any ground around it that is wet, but the level is dropping little by little
C
then also what is the best patch to use? i have tried the Flex Tape that the ads say is the bomb... stuff is a joke LOL. underwater seal needed

Ah, I thought you had a rigid wall ABG for some reason.

Yeah, Intex is different.
Pics of the openings. It appears to be a more rigid material that forms a 5 inch or so diameter enforcement around the holes. I can’t imagine how I would take that out and replace it. I found a place on line that has liner specifically for Intex pools, but they tell you you have to cut these holes I can’t figure out for the life of me how that wouldn’t leak. here is what Im considering:

I can get an intex liner, but im trying to determine if its basically like a new pool without the frame. Like if it’s the same liner that came with the pool with the pockets and all that I’ll have to take the metal frame apart and completely get rid of the old one. I really wasn’t looking to go that route, I’ll just replace the pool if that’s the case. I was hoping that it would be the liner that you just put inside of your existing one.

Edited to say apparently it is the same one that comes with the pool, meaning taking it all apart and putting it back up. No thanks... im looking at putting in a gorilla pad and a liner that goes inside the current one. so back to cutting the holes... I mean Im sure there has to be a simple way to do it, I just cant wrap my head around how

Let me just say these look like a game changer! When I was referring to putting a liner over your current one I meant using a standard overlap vinyl liner & clips - that usually involves some wrinkles because it’s not always a perfect fit if your pool is an odd size compared to standard above ground pools (which yours is). There are some YouTube videos of people doing it.
These look so much better. It’s the same principle but these are made to fit intex pools - Awesome 🤩
For the jets & intake-
You can use this opportunity to upgrade to a regular above ground return jet & skimmer With a kit like this since you will be cutting anyway. 👇

It’s really not that hard & there’s gaskets so it is definitely sealed up. Measure twice, cut once !
You would then be able to use adapters to keep the hoses you have or replace them with pvc or standard above ground hoses. There are several different adapters for this purpose available on amazon.

I don't think I'm anywhere near confident enough to replace the jets! Actually I know I'm not. I'm actually considering replacing the whole pool or just getting rid of it altogether simply because I have no idea how to cut and seal this new liner..
