Small Hole in Vinyl Liner by Return Inlet

Hey all just looking for advice on how to fix patch this hole:


Main questions:

1. What liner patch kit do you recommend, I've seen the Boxer kit talked about before.
2. Since it's so close to the inlet, should I patch the hole and the inlet hole then recut the inlet?
3. If you recommend the boxer kit, is it large enough to patch the hole + inlet (if that's recommended)
4. I'm just in the process of opening the pool so this is dry right now, should I keep it that way or do patches work best wet? - I've seen some conflicting opinions on this
5. Any other advice I am super open to hearing.

If you remove the inlet fitting the liner may shift on you.

I would try to patch it without removing the inlet. Only if the tear goes under the inlet and continues leaking will you need to remove it.

@Mdragger88 @zea3 may have ideas.

You can patch over the inlet opening and recut it to put the fitting back on. Vinyl liners will shrink when left empty, so I would use a Boxer patch kit and patch it asap so you can refill the pool. It should work wet or dry, since some patches are above a pool's waterline. It should have a large enough piece of vinyl. Cut the patch large enough to have 2" overlap all the way around and round off the corners. You can add a second, larger patch on top for extra security if you want.

I think it may be hard to get a patch adhered good and flat without removing the fitting. You may also want to have the gaskets for that on hand as well.
As Zea said, the bigger the coverage the better so consider patching the entire hole and recutting for the fitting.
