SLAMing and waterbugs

Not sure if you can see it but that dive ring is at the deepest part of the pool. Absolutely clearing up!!!

Don't mention it.

I'm anxious for you to see how easy this is once things are running on your command. You'll see, it will be nothing like it was before. Your pool care will become routine, and you'll wish for a little pool drama somewhere down the road. Nothing will happen, just a little nudge on the chemistry here and there, but your friends will think you're lying when you say how easy it is.

Oh well...we've all been there.

Probably won't be good.. The rains that were expected gave us very little so I'm going to add some. Also there's sand or some very fine debris on bottom that's not filtering out. For the last 2-3 mornings it's been very clear in the morning but after adding cal-hypo and brushing it stays cloudy all day. Thought it would have filtered out by now. Going to vacuum to waste, fill, check, cya, and slam. Good idea do you think?

Cal Hypo may be clouding you up. Could I talk you into trying some Bleach instead? I would sure urge you to give it a shot. I don't know, but you may be close enough to Houston that they have Bleach (liquid shock/Chlorine) at some pool places. If not, you could go with 8.25% like so many others around the forum here.

If it is just a little fine sand on the bottom, that isn't putting a load on your FC.

No, I think after brushing it's just staying suspended in the water and for some reason it's not filtering out.after backwashing I get a little debris coming back in through the returns but just for a few seconds. Read a thread on it but don't think it ever came to a conclusion. Multiport has been leaking a little after I change setting for a minute then it stops. Looking at getting a new one. But yes, I'll try switching to bleach today, was going to pull that trigger sooner or later anyway. Probably use the 8.25%. Is there a big difference between liquid shock and regular bleach?

Just the strength, but here's the catch.

Often, when you find "liquid Shock" or Chlorine at hardware stores/big box hardware stores, it's been there a long time and is weaker. It starts out 10%, but by the time it sits for months, it's weaker. Maybe 6% or less. So, people like me who want it, usually buy store brand bleach in the laundry sections where ever it moves quickly.

It sounds like you may have some filter issues then as well, so I would replace that spider gasket to eliminate that potential problem. Just stick with it, rain or shine, and you'll get through. You might run a CH on the pool for grins and see how much your CH has risen, but you may not have much with all the rain and BW you've done. If you start humping bleach for this, just remember that you won't need too much once this is all done. when that time comes... Stock up on several bottles and then pick up what you need at the store each week, and it's pretty easy that way. Even in my pool at 28K gallons, it isn't much hassle.

Sounds good. I'm going to call our pool stores and see if they have some liquid shock till I finish the slam then go to bleach. At least this way I'll know if it's the debris or the cal hypo causing the cloudiness. We actually have 3 pool stores in our little town so I imagine one would carry the liquid shock. I ran a CH on Saturday and it was up to 175ppm.
