SLAM with CYA at 90?

It's a long story, but I find myself with what appears to be an early-stage algae situation. My original SWG had to be replaced recently and I did let the FC level get dangerously low once as I was trying to dial in the new unit. Part of that dialing in was progressively raising the CYA to 90. I was hoping for a chlorine demand drop off, but it never came So now I have been trying conduct my first-ever SLAM, but have had poor results. I'm sure the problem is that I have not been able to consistently keep the FC level at around 35 (!)...it has varied to as low as 25 over the last two days. I came down with Covid on Wed and that has slowed me down a bunch. OCLT results over the last two nights have been -5 and -6, so clearly I'm a long way from done.

My question: is this just too steep of a hill to have success at those CYA levels, or should I consider a drain/refill?

It is doable. You need to load up on liquid chlorine and test a few times a day to maintain a FC of 36.

You need to decide which methods fits better with your capabilities - focus on the maintianing 36 or drain and refill to get your CYA down to 230-40 then SLAM.
