Refilled pool this year. Water balancing broke down at one point due to wifes medical emergency. Pool was always clear, but noticed I had OCL overnight which I assume means I have algae bloom that hasn't shown visibly. Started slam, but have questions. Ph 7.6, TA90, CH320, CYA50. Slam FC should be 20. High daytime FC loss due to UV in Vegas summer. How close to 20FC do I need to maintain over daylight hours ( dose every 15-30 minutes? ) and can the FC fall below 20 for any length of time and how far below. Obviously dosing higher than 20FC will result in quicker loss of FC and even dosing at 20FC for slam results in quicker loss of FC due to UV than normal FC levels.

There is no advantage to dosing 1 or 2ppm higher then 20ppm.

The more often you are able to test and top back to 20ppm the quicker the algae will be killed and you will meet the SLAM exit criteria.

You will see when your FC loss during the day tapers towards normal daytime loss and then you can test less often.

Life gets in the way of testing very often. Do the best you can.

You don’t have to dose every 20 minutes. Even once an hour is more than most people do during a SLAM. Hourly or every couple of hours is still going to give you great progress while not using up your test chems so quickly.
