SLAM question

Second yr TFP pool opening. My open test numbers....
FC-0
PH-7.2
TA-80
CH-1300
CYA-20
Was going to start a SLAM and when I enter my numbers it says I’m out of range for SLAM which I put in 12. Recommended chlorine amount was 176 oz. Here where my question comes into play. I guess for yrs I’m used to the pool store telling me start with 4 gallons and retest. That amount on pool math just doesn’t seem high enough for a SLAM. I know I’m needing to get my CYA up some. With my CYA that low do I get that up to my proper range before a SLAM? Don’t want to give algae on opportunity to start. Do I just start the SLAM with the recommended chlorine increase my CYA and monitor the OCLT and proceed to normal maintenance?
I do know my CH is high and I’d posted last yr about that and believe it has to do with me being on a well which I’ve always tested high in minerals.
Thanks in advance!!

The app states you are out of range whenever you put the target FC range out of the normal maintenance range. So by default SLAM levels are out of range. Ignore it.

Add 10 ppm CYA via sock method and add chlorine to 12 ppm FC and maintain.

Since you just opened, how does your water look? Is it green? If not, you can raise FC to SLAM level and then perform an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test to see if you need to perform the SLAM Process procedure. Obviously if the water is green then a SLAM is in order.
The actual amount of liquid chlorine to add depends on the concentration. Make sure that the percentage is correct in Pool Math.

Forget about what the pool store said to do. We don't dump and hope here at TFP.

When ahead and did the recommended chlorine dosage and it went from somewhat cloudy to sparkling clear in less than 24 hrs!!
I’ve used nothing that would create CH that high. Unless my reagent which is a yr old is giving me a false reading. I’m in a rural setting and use well water for my source.

You reported a CH last year of 400 ppm. So unless calcium was added, there is a testing error somewhere.
