Slam process starting

Hello.
I started slamming my pool last night ph was 7.5 and CYA was around 40ish. Fc was practically zero since I drained 3/4 of the pool. Through in about 2 gallons of liquid chlorine last night and ran filter and pump all night. My question is, is there negatives by putting too much chlorine when your trying to Slam?

Negatives are that it could damage the pool equipment or surface and that you're not speeding up the process any and just putting in extra chemicals to be burned off by the sun
