I am new to the board but started the slam method on my pool after coming back from vacation to a green mess. I am now about 6 days in and have a cloudy white pool. How long should it normally take to clear up?
Thanks for the quick reply. Below are my current (as of 12:30pm today) numbers.
PH 7.1
FC 7.5
TC 7
TA 50
CH - 110
CYA - 10
For full disclosure, I am also testing out the method in the post below. I found this and decided to try it instead of the pricey slime bags. I have had them on them in the pool for less than 24 hours and can see some considerable build up inside the bags.
You can not test a CYA of 10. So not sure were you got that. The error of the test is at least +/- 10 ppm.
If you have no CYA, your FC is very high and can damage your liner. You must have CYA in your water to buffer the harshness of the chlorine.
Your signature shows a K2005 test kit. You need to get a FAS-DPD test to be able to measure FC accurately.
Your signature shows a K2005. That does not have a FAS-DPD test in it. If you added one, then you have a K2006 test kit.
You should have at least CYA of 30. As you are slamming that is OK. Once clear, you might wish to raise that to 40 or 50 depending on how your FC holds during the day.
