Hi friends,

From reading the threads here I am making the move away from shocking according to pool store methods and trying to apply the SLAM method here.

I am trying to own a 26ft above ground pool (18000 gallons) but it is entirely green and I cannot see the bottom to vacuum. I am beginning to leave the filter on circulation to keep the water moving. I have also attached my test results in the photo below.

I suppose I am wondering: How do I remove the algae while I can't clear the debris from the bottom? Given my CYA level, do I drain some water and add more to get this slower? I also have a lot of Clorox powder shock. Do I add that to kill the remaining algae? Do I just scrub and vacuum everyday as I balance chemicals?

Thank you all for your wisdom.

Follow the SLAM Process, and get as much off the bottom as you can. Print this out and follow it: Link-->SLAM Process

That would help, but not absolutely necessary. 70 is the upper limit for a successful slam.

No, it likely will raise CYA. Use only liquid chlorine.
Do I just scrub and vacuum everyday as I balance chemicals?
Yes.

WELCOME to TFP!!! :shark:
