Left town for three weeks, and came back to find my chlorine level at 0-ish and my Pentair IC40 working fine with all green lights. Had a guy add acid weekly to keep PH in check (SWP new in 2023) Anyway now doing the slam first time even though the water looks fine but noticed my cyclone was half full with mostly green material, I never let it get more than 1/4 full before flushing before and never had that much green sludge before. I live in far west Phoenix metro area in a new construction area that is always windy. So with several huge windstorms while gone my cyclone really filled up fast. My question is, shall I completely clean out my cyclone by disassembling it to get all the green gunk out? When I flush, it never seems to get every last bit. 9100 gal in ground pool and spa.

Follow the SLAM process - print it out and check off each step.
Remove all pool toys, do not cover pool, scub skimmer and any ladders or steps.
Post a full set of test results now

I run a cyclone on my solar loop, they work really well.
I wouldn’t go pulling the cyclone apart, that’s quite a job and there is a risk of damaging it. The collection area is separated from the pool water. I would either empty it as normal and monitor it as you go through the slam, or force a purge with an exit valve closed (ear the instructions), this will fill the sediment chamber with pool water at slam levels. If it’s remaining green towards the end of the slam think then maybe think about pulling it apart but I would still just do the forced purge. If it starts to collect sandy or darker muck just purge it as normal. Pulling apart a cyclone is not part of its regular maintenance.
