Hello, newbie here. We are currently on day 3 of slamming our pool. Pool water remains cloudy despite the following readings:
FC 12
CYA 40
CC 0
I went ahead and added liquid chlorine to maintain a shock level FC 16. Have been vacuuming and cleaning the pool daily. We have a DE filter which we’ve cleaned periodically but have not been adding DE. I am thinking that this is the issue. Your thoughts would be most appreciated.

Thank you for your quick reply. That is what I thought. We are in process of buying the new grids. Once it has been replaced and the proper amount of DE has been added, will this resolve the cloudy issue and thus complete the SLAM process?

It will help clear the water. Have you read SLAM Process? Read it thoroughly. Follow it. There are 3 parameters that indicate you are complete.

You need a proper test kit. What are you using to test your pool water chemistry?

From the linked article above about DE filters.
If it was run without enough DE for any time, then particles could be clogging up the grids and just backwashing will not clean them out. You will need to take the assembly apart and spray each one down. Then if there is any doubt about the history, you could also do the TSP soak and acid soak and know you are starting fresh

Yes, I have read and reviewed the SLAM process many times with the understanding that I have not met the last criteria which is clear water. Also using the recommended Taylor test kit 2006C which has been instrumental with getting our pool chemistry back on track. Really appreciate your input on this matter.
