SLAM and higher CYA levels

Why exactly isn't higher CYA levels recommended during SLAM? Is it simply that you'd have to achieve a much higher FC? I typically keep my CYA around 70-80 (SWG) and although it's not recommended, it's easy enough to achieve FC levels around 30 for SLAM. Thanks

Makes sense, but it seems a little unrealistic to be running CYA of 70-90, then expect to drop that down much lower to SLAM
Mid season we generally SLAM at whatever the CYA is. The majority of folks needing to SLAM are at the beginning of the season when their CYA was lower from winter rain and monthly degradation in the off season. So we tell those folks to keep the lower CYA for an easier SLaM and then raise it to SWG levels after.

The newbs that come in mid season usually have well over 100 CYA after the pool store/guy ran pucks and shock for years. So we have them drain down to 30 CYA if they are already draining.
