I looked at our skimmer (the lid is a Waterway 519-6450), and it appears that the weir door is present, but stuck open either by adhesive or by the tile grout. I've included a couple of photos, one looking out toward the pool and one looking in. Any suggestions? It would be nice to remove it and replace with an OEM part, but it's not clear how to get it out. I don't want to pry and take part of the skimmer housing with it. Would I be better off trying an aftermarket weir door that snaps in place above the existing one instead?

Yes, I've tried to rotate it up with my fingers and can't get it to budge. I could try using a tool to pry it up, but worry about damaging something else.

Try a small screwdriver or knife to chisel away the grout between the weir and the side of the skimmer throat. Those two cut in the side of the weir should push in and release it from the skimmer.
