We are building a pool. The Poolbuilder uses a skimmer SP10841OM, but it is round and appears to be for a 1.5" pipe fitting. This skimmer is not available anywhere it seems.
I spoke with a hayward distributor who helped me in the past with my old pool. They told me that if I did not care if the cover is round I could use SP10841 with a square cover. The inner workings are exactly the same they said.
They also said that if my PVC pipe for the pool is 2" then I should get the SP10841 model with a 2" pipe fitting to get the maximum gallon flow and not use the one the PB uses which is for 1.5" pipe. It would not fully take advantage of the plumbing.
I have spoken now with friends who are plumbers and engineers. They looked at the specs and agreed with my distributor, but all said they are not Pool Builders. Does anyone here know if my distributor is correct? As long as the model number (SP1084) is the same and the fittings are sized to the lines then the other aspects (SP10841xxx) are immaterial? Thank you.
