I just replaced my above ground pool liner and when reinstalling my new skimmer gasket it bubbled through the inside edges.
My pool had some rust around the skimmer and returned so before I put my new liner back in I added a sheet of aluminum to reinforce the rusty area. In doing so this did add a small extra layer of thickness. I believe this added to the issue that the butterfly gasket was not seating perfectly even before tightening down the skimmer. My hope was that when I bolted down the skimmer that the gasket would smush flush but didn’t quite do so.
Curious if anyone thinks that this will be an issue? I was contemplating splicing the gasket into 2 pieces or buying a non-butterfly gasket.
I haven’t cut out the hole for the liner in hopes to make the skimmer right first.
First pic is of the skimmer from inside where the gasket is bubbling through
Second pic is from the top of skimmer where you can see the gasket isn’t flush in the middle. A little hard to see from the pic
Third pic is just showing the setup of where I added reinforcement, for context
Thanks
Matt
