Hi all! We have had our above ground pool for about 4 years. This weekend we opened up our pool to see that the skimmer basket is cracked near the top and the bottom of the basket. Any suggestions how we can fix it without putting in a new one? Thanks!

If just the basket, just replace it. If the entire skimmer assembly, you can try pool putty but you would be better off replacing the unit.

I'll try. Not great with technology. I've looked at a few you tube videos and it isn't as difficult as I thought, but if there is going to be a problem we'll find it....

Skimmers aren't under pressure so putty/epoxy repairs tend to hold up fairly well.
Pictures of the area will help in giving advice on repairs.
Replacement of the skimmer is possible but may cause problems depending on the age of the liner.

I bought a pool online about 5 years ago and it came with a cheap wide mouth skimmer. Towards the end of that year I bough a Hayward skimmer that matched the hole set just to have on hand with the intention of replacing in a few years. I believe it was around $40. I changed it a couple of years ago before filling the pool so the water line was below the skimmer and it was very easy to do, no issues at all. I buy 2 replacement baskets every few years and they are about $10.
