We have never used our side suction vacuum. We bought a robot and never looked back. BUT we get sand and dirt accumulating in corners of the sunshelf and spa. I bought a handheld battery operated stick vac, which works ok, except the "bag" is tiny, and it requires 4 D cell batteries, which are dead.
We have the side suction connection and hose. Between our screen enclosure, pool robot, and hairnets on the skimmer, our filter cartridge doesn't have to be dealt with too often.
I hate to vacuum all the sand straight to the filter. We do have a "backwash" valve that is attached to a hose that we use for draining the pool as needed.
Should I connect the vacuum and turn on the "backwash" to get after the spa and sunshelf, or is there something I can connect inline on the hose to catch the crud?
