Should your pool turn green with every rain?

I have my own pool, I use the Trouble Free Pool method. It is so low maintenance, it is unbelievably. However, I have family in Beaumont, Texas and Gilbert, Arizona whose pools go green with every rain (both plaster, inground, TX is chlorine AZ is SWG). I blame it on improperly balanced chemistry. But only because I TFP and get rain frequently and it has NEVER gone green. What is the real story? Will TFP stop this pattern?

Sounds like you need to teach your family some basic pool maintenance.

No, there is nothing in rain that should be causing them to get an algae outbreak. This is just poor chemistry maintenance on their part.

They are likely always on the verge of an outbreak and the pH shift is just enough to cause it.

Ok, thank you. I feel justified. I did try to introduce my parents to TFP last summer. It was not well received by my infering adult brothers. In fact, they thought I was stupid. Wish I had brought my kit with me and fixed the thing right then. Thank you so much for responding!
