I just started using skimmer socks this week and they are helping quite a bit. I need to vacuum tonight and wasn't sure if I should leave the skimmer sock in place or remove it. Next question - I currently have my suction set at 80% skimmer basket and 20% floor drain. When you vacuum, should I be closing off the floor drains completely and only have suction from the pool skimmer? Or should I just leave it set at 80/20?

I like maximum suction myself. But if the vacuum starts sticking to the floor or the pump starts starving, you'll have to crack the main drain some.
The way my skimmer is, I have to plug the vacuum in directly to the pipe, so I have no advice on the net in the basket.
